We are lucky to have some fantastic local produce to work with and we aim to use as many locally produced ingredients as we can and where possible we use fruit, herbs and vegetables from our garden and eggs from our hens. We make our own bread, cakes, shortbread, jams, marmalade and chutneys. In the afternoons we offer tea or coffee and home baking in the sitting room. The quality and provenance of our food has been recognised by a VisitScotland 'Taste our Best' award.
There is a good range of eating out options in nearby Helmsdale and Brora, alternatively we also offer a selection of supper platters which can be pre-booked (suspended for the remainder of 2020). We do not have an alcohol licence but you are very welcome to bring your own alcohol, there is no corkage charge. We can also provide tasty packed lunches on request.
breakfast - A relaxing breakfast (served at any reasonable time to suit you) will hopefully set you up for your day. Our breakfast menu includes daily changing specials and we can cater for most dietary requirements, please let us know when you book if there is anything that you can't eat.
to start - fruit juices, homemade granola, cereals, fruit, fruit compote (using fruit from the garden), yoghurt, seeds
porridge - made with locally milled oatmeal from Golspie Mill
scottish breakfast - bacon, Grant's sausage, Cockburn's or Grant's black pudding, Grant's haggis, tomatoes, mushrooms, your choice of eggs. We also offer both vegetarian and vegan sausages and haggis for a vegetarian/ vegan scottish breakfast
2 daily changing specials - for example: locally smoked salmon and scrambled eggs; locally smoked haddock with poached eggs; drop scones, fruit and maple syrup; eggs florentine; french toast with caramel banana
bread and pastries - home made and served with home made jams and marmalade
teas and coffee - a variety of teas and freshly brewed Highland Roast coffee
dining out - Both Brora (10 minutes drive) and Helmsdale (10 minutes drive) offer a variety of places to dine out in the evening, from fish and chips to fine dining. We are happy to help with advice and making reservations and if you are cycling or plan to enjoy a drink with your meal we can help you to arrange transport. Please contact the restaurants in advance to make a booking as physical distancing will mean reduced availability to sit in.

eating in - sometimes going out for a meal is not what you wish to do. If you would prefer to buy a carry out from one of the local restaurants you are welcome to bring it here and eat in the dining room; we keep a tray of crockery, cutlery and glasses in the dining room for you to use. We do not have an alcohol licence but you are very welcome to bring your own bottle, there is no corkage charge.
provenance - We are blessed with some truly wonderful produce in the North Highlands. We aim to take advantage of this, and keep our food miles down, by sourcing our ingredients as locally as possible in addition to using our own garden produce and eggs.
